Boy's Day

Maureen went to a meeting at school. If you know her, ask her about it. Anywho, this was the first time that I was alone with the boys for an entire day. Our day was planned out. We were going to go to Joey's gym and head over to the fountain after that for some running around. I say it was planned because things didn't exactly happen that way.
As we were preparing to leave to go to the gym, John threw a hissy fit and wouldn't budge. I gave him two warnings before I took off his shoes and put him in his crib. He fell asleep but woke up when he had to take care of business. After that, he seemed ready to go, so I decided to head out to Target to get some sippy cups. Since it was close to lunch, I decided to go to Daphne's prior to going to Target. I was so proud of John. He ate his entire kid's gyro meal and he was patient as I gave Nicholas his bottle. As a reward, I got him a special toy at Target, The Little People Airplane.

When we got home, John was ready for a nap and Nick and I hung out on our bed. I read him a couple of books and gave him a bottle. Sure enough, he went out like a light. I was able to watch the end of GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra before both of them woke up and I had to watch Make Way for Noddy. Not that I mind watching MWFN, but once in a while, I do like to watch something where the main characters don't sing snappy little songs about some problem.

Since John was being so good, I decided to give him dinner in bed. He had yogurt and hot dogs. I thought I was doing a good thing by giving him a Hebrew National hot dog, but when I told Maureen, she said, "It's good he didn't choke. You know how they say that small kids choke on hot dogs." No, actually, I had never heard that. We should just be thankful that I didn't give him peanut butter. If it were up to me, I would give him some, but Dr. K has said that we cannot give him anything with nuts until he can tell us that his throat is swelling up if he's allergic to it.

Eventually, Maureen came home and John was so happy to see her. He just lit up when she walked into the room. Oh well, I guess he'll always be a mama's boy.

A Church Going Boy

Going to Mass with John can be an interesting experience. It had been a while (oops) since we had gone to Mass, but Maureen decided that we should go today since it was Palm Sunday. What I forgot about Palm Sunday was the Passion Play. Once we got into church and I realized what was going to go on, I knew it was going to be a long service. As you may know, John knows good music when he hears it. As soon as the cantor started to sing, he was not impressed. He did not want to stay. So, we basically went and walked around for a while. Maureen took over JOhn duty while I gave Nicholas his bottle. For the most part, things went smoothly aside from thw woman who decided to enter the church parking lot through the exit gate.

We did get to go to FIddler's Bistro for lunch after church, so John got to entertain his friends over there. He's pretty much the king of the place because he walks all over and no one stops him. They know they are dealing with a special individual. Plus, he's so darned cute.

Sunday Evenings

Sunday afternoons, we like to take a walk through our area to see the sites and let John run around a bit before we go for an early dinner or snack. Today, we took a walk to Tuti Fruiti for some frozen yogurt and then headed over to John's favorite thing, the fountain, or AGUA, as he would say. As soon as he realized where we were going, that boy was just on fire. He couldn't wait to get there. Take a look at what he likes to do at the AGUA. He'll do this for about 20-minutes and then he knows that the time has come to move on.

Some evenings, we'll go to dinner. Last Sunday, we went to Baja Fresh. We didn't know if John would like the food, but we decided to give it a go. HE LOVED IT. He wanted more, but we were out of the kids quesadilla. Next time, we'll just get him a big one. I do have one tip. Do not let you child drink from your water bottle if he isn't finished chewing his food unless you want to consume little bits of that food when you take your next swig from your bottle.

His Easter Outfit

I must say that John is going to look sharp on Easter. Just wait and see.

Fun at Under The Sea

John had the good fortune to have two sessions at the gym. First, we went to Joey's Gym for his regular session. We had to leave a little early because he was a little antsy. I'm not sure why, but a couple of the other kids there were a bit off as well.

Anywho, after a nice nap, we went to Jake's birthday party at Under the Sea. Being one of the younger kids in the group, it was a bit difficult for John to partake in the treasure hunt, but he still had a great time playing on the play structures and the video games. They had really cool old video games like APB and Spiderman (1988 Sega version). That was my favorite part.
He enjoyed himself quite a bit. He was very good and was ready to go home when we had to leave. Our little man is such a good boy. And, he's applying what he's learned at Joey's Gym to other situations. At Joey's Gym, they teach you to go down a slide on your stomach because it is safer!

A New Business Idea

Our John wants to earn a little money so he can buy comic books and candy. Since he has a lawn mower, he decided that mowing lawns would be a great way to make that money. Do you think he has much of a chance dress as he is in this shot?

Guess Who Got A Haircut?

It has been a long time coming. Our John's hair grows so quickly. We finally decided to give him a buzz for a couple of reasons: 1. We won't have to get him a hair cut in 3-weeks; and, 2. Most importantly, it was the quickest way to cut his hair.

As you can see, he went from having Zack Effron hair to little boy hair. Grammy wasn't too pleased when she saw it. Her first words were, "Oh my God, I don't like it. Couldn't you have waited until after Easter?" She then went on to say, "Oh, now he looks like one of those little barrio boys who had lice." That's just priceless!

Tidy Boy

He may be obsessive compulsive. He always needs to rearrange the sugar.

One of John's Names

When John is being naughty, we like to call him Tinsel. In the world of Oswald, Tinsel is Roderick the Robots mechanical cat. When Roderick went to get his shine from Bingo Bunny the Barber, he couldn't take Tinsel into the shop since there was a sign that said: No Cats Allowed. Obviously, Bingo likes dogs because Weenie Girl can go in his shop.

Anywho, Oswald agreed to watch Tinsel who ran all over Big City and caused all sorts of trouble like overturning trash cans and walking on fresh cement. Having an animal is a big responsibility.

Why do we call John Tinsel? He has a propensity to start digging through the waste paper basket and leaving things all over the place. He's a one man disaster area, but we love him all the same.

The Sleepy John

Last week, Maureen noticed something very interesting when she'd go into John's room to check up on him. Normally, he's sprawled out on his back asleep; however, he now takes a different shape. As you can see, he's sleeping with his butt up in the air. I can't explain it. It doesn't look comfortable, but it works for our John.

The Birthday Weekend

As some of you may know, it was my birthday on Saturday. Since I had been in Houston all week, I was looking forward to some fun with Maureen and the boys. The day started out just fine. We headed to the gym for John to run around and be a crazy boy. We had lunch at Daphne's and then headed home for a nap. Whilst goodtime Johnny was napping, I did some errands, but came back to see that he was wide awake after about 45-minutes.

Oh well, we headed over to the Brady house to attend the Zamarin brothers and sisters reunion. Grammy is a Zamarin. Anyway, our plan was to go to the reunion and head off to dinner on Larchmont. Mother Nature had a different plan. It was raining cats and dogs, so we headed home. Along the way, Maureen said that we could go to Fiddler's Bistro. That worked out well because John was able to have his grilled cheese sandwich and walk around in the agua later. He even got a chance to play rearrange the sugar. That's one of his favorite games whenever we are at a restaurant.

As you can see from the family picture, John could care less, but Nicholas was wide awake. Look at his giant eyes...unlike mine. I have Roy Rogers eyes. I try not to do it, but I just can't help squinting when I smile. For that reason, I try not to smile.
